DOLL TYPES - Bisque Dolls, Gaultier Fashion Doll, Jumeau Doll, Googlie Dolls, German Dolls, French Dolls, Antique Japanese Doll, Antique China Doll, Antique Baby Doll
Antique Dolls & Collectible Dolls, Dolls are one of the most enduring types of toy. They have been played with and treasured by children from the earliest of times to present day. Among the most valuable dolls are carved wooded examples made in Britain in the 18th century and French dolls made from bisque during the 19th century; both types can fetch thousands of dollars at auction. But you don't have to spend a fortune to build up an interesting collection of dolls. Composition (a substance similar to papier mache), wax over composition or fabric dolls are less expensive. Some have extremely elaborate wardrobes and those in their original costumes can command a premium price. Outfits and hairstyles which reflect the fashions at the time of production are particularly collectable. However, don't ignore badly dressed or even naked dolls. If your doll hasn't got a thing to wear, one way of boosting her value is to buy her a new outfit! |
