A superbly painted Minton 'plaque' Actually this piece was probably originally a cabinet plate that has at some time in the past sustained damage to it's rim. It's outer circumference is unglazed, indicating that it has been reduced in diameter.
The scene, titled on the back, 'Spring time' After Angelica Kauffman, is signed by Thomas Allen, one of Minton foremost figure and flower painters of the period.
Marked with retailers stamp, Daniel of 29 New Bond Street London. Impressed 'Minton' and date code 1874. Measures 18cm. diameter. Condition: Very good, but reduced in diameter. The enamels and gilding are in excellent condition.
