Donatello (C.1420-1466) ranks as one of the most famous names in the history of Florentine Renaissance art. Remarkably a cast was taken from the renaissance original by the foundry in the 19th Century.
David is depicted in a naturalist pose with countenance of dreamy contemplation. His left foot rests on the head of Goliath, he holds a sword in the right hand and a rock in the left with a circlet of laurel leaves entwining the helmet. Height: 5' 5" / 165 cm Diameter at base: 1' 8" / 51 cm
